Just spent the weekend playing with Google Sketchup. My fist concern was that the download is only for Windows 2000 or XP but it ran without issue on my vista laptop. After a few hours of playing I enjoyed the software’s easy to learn tools and the simple process for placing models into Google Earth. As a Second life land owner I look forward to seeing the further development of Sketchup and other affiliate software programs that we will soon see as the adaptation towards the work of 3-D moves closer and closer to everyday online life.

Just returned form the WebmasterWorld’s Search & Internet Marketing Conference held Dec 4-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was small as far as show size goes but often the case when the entry fee is set to $1499.00. The trade off was high value and good quality time with each of exhibitors. It is not every day that you can walk up to a Microsoft, Google and Yahoo Booth and speak with 2 or 3 show attendants all high ranking in their perspective companies and get 20 minutes of their time completely uninterrupted. It was clear that valuable connections were being made, and a true exchange of was what each of the attendees were to receive. This was a small show of big value.

There were a few standout announcements, Microsoft is in Beta with an excel interface that will allow you to manage your PPC campaigns via export to excel. The Beta version for www.gomobile.com was displayed by www.quattrowireless.com and that was most impressive.

Other then the WebmasterWorld’s Search & Internet Marketing Conference Vegas was unusually quite which made for easy taxi access and no lines at airport. I guess the weeks prior to New Year’s and Superbowl are the quite before the storm in Las Vegas.

Search Toppers sent a team of attendees to the recent CTIA show in

San Francisco. The show took place from October 22 until the 26th. It was well attended and the “buzz” level was high.

San Francisco was accommodating as always, one of my personal favorite places to travel to and do business.The show and the wireless industry continue to grow, as I believe attendance was up over 20% from last year in LA and the booth floor appeared expanded as well. It was also nice to be able to reconnect with business associates and friend from the past. Andrew Miller a former MHPG employee was running Mqube (sold to VeriSign) and is now the CEO of Quattro Wireless. It was nice to see Andrew who is much in his element on the show floor and should have been elected mayor of mobiletown.There were a few new ideas at the show specifically a peer to peer or mobile to mobile conference calling as well as some advancement in the mobile locator applications.

Time passes quickly as it is just a week away from another CTIA. This time it will be in Las Vegas, beginning on April 1 running until April 4. As in the past this show is expected to be larger than the oone previous as the industry continues to grow.

We at search toppers are looking forard to seeing what new developments are going to be presented and will report back to you what we find. while in town Steve Harmeyer of the Search Toppers team is planning to take a day trip and go rock climbing, we will need an update on that as well.

Claire and I just got back for 12 days in Hawaii; it was a long overdue trip for just the 2 of us. We started and ended in Kona where Claire has built us a home. We played golf, snorkeled, went zip lining and attempted to go scuba diving. In Kauai we stayed at the Princeville Hotel on the North Shore and looked for property from one end of the Island to another. We believe we are going to settle for some land in the DMB development called Kukui Ula, although life in the Hualalai development on the Big Island is tough to beat.

UFC need I say more, this weekend UFC 74 was on and we have a party at the house. Food from AJ’s, surround sound updated by CSI and weather compliments of Scottsdale Arizona. We planned ahead and had a few magnums bottles of Vouve Clique, some Mickey’s ale and plenty of everything else!

The fight were one better than the next, even though I wanted Josh to beat George St. Pierre the fight of the night was without a doubt the Randy Couture title defense. This guy is a freak of nature. He is one by one taking down guys that one would think he does not stand a chance against. He is an inspiration to all and a roll model to all in the industry.

The night went by so quickly, that it ended with the sun coming up. Needless to say Sunday was spent eating takeout from Sol Y Samba and floating in the pool.

I have always been part of a dog family. I grew up with a Siberian husky, a three legged golden retriever. When I was old enough to have my own pets I have chosen black labs. My black labs have always been the sweetest dogs. WE have always raised them in pairs so they would have a mate to play with when we humans were not around. First there were Jake and Elwood, and now we have Shane and Shiloh.

All of our dogs have been well mannered but rather protective in nature. Both Jake and Shiloh were the dominate of their pairs while Elwood and Shiloh have been the sweat and more playful type.

Zack and I are headed to Jackson Hole for a week with my family. On our trip we plan to visit Yellowstone National park and do a few days of fly fishing. Yesterday he purchased his first fly fishing rod and took a lesson on casting. It was rather windy so he focused on roll casting. I can not wait to see the look on his face when he presents a fly for the first time and a beautiful brown or rainbow trout takes his fly.
